Verdon L. Shaw, 81, passed away at his Orem home, Thursday, May 1, 2008. Verdon was born May 30, 1926, in Venice, Utah. He was the third child of seven children born to L.W. and LaPreal Hendrickson Shaw.

He attended schools in Venice and Richfield. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served 4 years. He returned from Europe in 1946 and married Maurine Howes. They were later sealed in the St. George Temple. They have been married 62 years. They moved to Orem a few years after they were married and have lived here for 56 years. He worked at Geneva Steel in their transportation department for 35 years. He had many hobbies that included woodworking, fishing, boating, swimming, camping and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife Maurine and his children, Don and Eileen; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters and a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a special grandson, Brandin.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Orem City Cemetery with full Military Rites. Family and friends may visit Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem.
