Frederick Valentine Stettler was born February 14, 1922 in Logan, Utah to Ernest and Anna von Neiderhausern Stettler.

He passed away and rejoined our loving Heavenly Father on May 4, 2008 in Logan, Utah. His life was spent in service to God, family and his fellow man. He married his childhood sweetheart, Helen Rust, on June 30, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. Fred was a lifelong resident of the Cache Valley area. He was in the construction business from childhood to retirement. First, he worked with his father in E. Stettler & Sons Construction Co., then with his brothers specializing in commercial building in the Intermountain area, and later with his sons in Stettler Enterprises.

Fred was an active member of the LDS church. He and his wife served a mission in Charlotte, North Carolina from 1992-1993. Fred served his country during World War II. He served in the Merchant Marines and saw action in the Pacific Theatre.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ernest and Anna Stettler, and his siblings, Josephine, Elmer, Golden, Annette, and Marilyn.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Helen Rust Stettler; his siblings, Floyd Stettler, Oregon; Betty (Clare) Johnson, Montana; Patty (Wally) Pratt, Washington; Helen (Carl) Mallard, Layton, Utah and his children, Kristine Stettler, Clyde Stettler, both of Logan; Sharlene (late Mikel Baker), St. George, Utah; David (Cindy) Stettler, Providence; and Karen (Brad) Jones, Logan; 16 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, May 9, 2008 in the Foothill 2nd Ward Chapel, 1450 East 1500 North, Logan. There will be a viewing on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Allen Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, North Logan and at the church on Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services.

Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stones and Dr. Salisbury and the ICU nurses for their exceptional expertise and loving care when it was most needed.
