Lillian Johnson Wilson
Brigham City
1923 - 2008
Lillian Johnson Wilson passed away early Saturday morning, May 3, 2008, exactly one month after been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Lillian was the devoted wife of the late Charles Junior Wilson, beloved mother of Grant (Claudia) Wilson of San Diego, California, Katherine (Michael) Timothy of Brigham City, Susan (Steve) Holbrook of Salt Lake City, Kristy (Ken) Braegger of Bear River City, Grandmother and Great Grandmother to her posterity of 18 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
Lillian was born in the railroad town of Lynndyl, Utah on November 23, 1923. She grew up among, not only the sage brush and quimps, but laughing Cousins, loving Aunts and extended family. When Lillian was 14 her father transferred to Southern California with the Union Pacific Railroad. It was there that she spent her teenage years graduating from Los Angeles Garfield High School in 1941, and eventually meeting and marrying her sweetheart, affectionately known as “Red” on May 19, 1944. They spent many years in California but returned to Utah in 1960 making their home in Brigham City for the past 50 years.
Lillian’s clear priorities were always family, service to God and others. Her family will remember her for her commitment to God, playful nature, wonderful stories, delicious meals, cozy quilts, crotched doilies and spending many hours in her flower gardens. In the Church, where she served faithfully in virtually every auxiliary organization as both leader and teacher, and as a Missionary with her husband in St. Louis, Missouri, she will be remembered for her quiet acts of compassionate service to anyone in need. In lieu of flowers the family wishes their friends, neighbors and associates would use their resources in taking their own families out for a memorable afternoon together—Lillian would have happily agreed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brigham City North Stake Center, 620 North 300 East, with a viewing prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:40 p.m. at the Church.
Interment will be in the Calls Fort Cemetery.
