Mary Ann Fredell, 90, until a month ago at ManorCare at Riverview, East Peoria, passed away on May 3, 2008, at Iron County Nursing Home, Parowan, Utah.
She was born on November 18, 1917 in Peoria Illinois, the youngest of ten children of Richard and Josephine Litterst Scherer. Mary graduated from Manual High School in 1936. She was united in marriage to Raymond E. Fredell on February 18, 1939. Mary was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria for 33 years in several departments. She retired in October, 1982, and relocated to Santa Rosa, California and South Jordan, Utah before returning to the Peoria area in 2002.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Raymond E. Fredell, on May 10, 1987, five brothers and four sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory three children; Patricia Ann (James) Hagemann of Germantown Hills, Raymond E. Fredell II of Cedar City, Utah and Jo Fredell Higgins of Aurora, Illinois, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mary was an intelligent and hard-working wife, mother and grandmother, and a caring sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She enjoyed traveling, playing Pinochle and Bingo with their many friends, and watching the "Wheel of Fortune" television show. She was a fine cook and loved fashion. Mary always wore bright pastel colors and her shoes and purse matched the outfit she was wearing. She was a fastidious master of the English language, always speaking and writing in the correct manner.
Mary has donated her body to science.
She was a former member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Peoria Heights, where a memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Sat., June 7, 2008, with Msgr. William Watson officiating. The family welcomes your presence at this celebration of Mary's life.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
