William Leon Grow

1924  -  2008

Lee died at his home in Sparks, Nevada. He was born in Helper, Utah to Leroy and Francis (Gibson) Grow and later raised by Leroy and Iola (Stout) Grow after the death of Francis in 1935.

He married Allene Loretta (Cowart) and then went into military service, in the Seabees during World War II. After discharge from the Navy, Lee and Allene moved to Nevada where they had five daughters and later divorced.

Lee remarried to Colleen Goulding, the love of his life. Lee retired from John Ascuaga’s Nugget after 30+ years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Colleen (Goulding); five daughters, Terry (Pete) Randall, Patricia Kliman, Sandy (Robert) Kirchner and Debbie (Pat) Peel all of Reno and Gwenda (Dayle) Jones of Mesa, Arizona; 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, John (Ellen), Norm (Midge), Gerry (Hazel), Ray (Tracy), Rusty (Michelle) and David (Julie) Grow; sisters, Jean (Calvin) Ballard, Judy Naranjo and Sue (Chuck) Sunbeck; sister-in-law, Jackie Grow; and brother-in-law, Clark Webb.

Preceded in death by his mother, Francis; stepmother, Iola; father, Leroy; brother, Ken; sister, Donna Webb; and son-in-law, Mike Kliman.

A viewing will be Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 1:00-1:45 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at West Jordan City Cemetery, 7800 So. 1300 W., West Jordan, Utah. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
