(Thelma) Faye Hipwell Phillips, 82, died suddenly Saturday, May 10, 2008 of a heart attack.
Faye was born June 21, 1925 in West Weber, Utah to Samuel F. and Thelma Coy Hipwell, the oldest of three daughters.
She attended schools in the Weber County School District.
She met her husband, Theron Jones Phillips, during her early school years. They began dating in high school and were married November 21, 1941. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple May 7, 1943. They had three children, Reid (deceased), Janice and Craig.
She worked alongside her husband throughout their marriage, in dairy and poultry farming, as they raised their family. She also worked for Swift & Company for several years and for the school lunch program in the Weber County School District for over 15 years. Many of her years in the school lunch program were spent at the Ogden/Weber Handicapped School where she formed many special relationships with the handicapped children.
She enjoyed reading, traveling on short family trips, sewing and cooking.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time together at family gatherings. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother always giving and showing concern for her family and friends in many ways.
She was an active member of the LDS Wilson 2nd Ward where she served as a Sunday School Secretary for over 30 years and was a faithful visiting teacher. She also served with her husband as a Stake Missionary for two years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Reid Phillips; her sister, Delores Charlton; and her parents.
Surviving are her husband, Theron, West Haven; daughter, Janice (Reed) Myers, South Ogden; son, Craig Phillips, Ogden; sister, Norma Crase, Orem; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; a nephew and three nieces.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary Chapel, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Friends and family may call Tuesday, May 13th from 6 – 8 p.m. and Wednesday, May 14th from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.
